TIMING IS EVERYTHING!
“To
everything there is a season
and
a time for every purpose
under heaven.”
(Ecclesiastes
3:1)
Hooray!
I am so excited. I finally figured out a way to post current and
upcoming astrological cycles so that you can access them as you
choose.
This
way I can write my NEW MOON and FULL MOON updates in one place
and then other important cosmic weather updates which you can
access under the TIMING IS EVERYTHING link.
"IT
IS ONLY WITH THE HEART
THAT
ONE CAN SEE RIGHTLY;
WHAT
IS ESSENTIAL
IS
INVISIBLE TO THE EYE."
ANTOINE
DE SAINT-EXUPERY
As
an Astrologer, I am often in awe and amazement when I see how
the cosmic weather reflects what is happening here on Earth. I
watch the movement of the planets through the heavens, which form
and release connections with each other in a cosmic square dance.
We
can’t change the energy, but we can become aware of it and
dance with the beat rather than against it. Astrological awareness
is not a scary prediction of good or bad events to come. Instead,
it is simply another piece of information that you can use to
make sense of things.
There
is no doubt that we are living in a very unstable, and yet for
some of us, very exciting time of change and revolution. If you’re
struggling with changes that seem to have been imposed on you
i.e. the loss of a job, relationship, a financial or health challenge,
look at what opportunities this pain-in-the-butt circumstance
is forcing you to explore.
The
fear you may be experiencing can get you all tied up in knots
so that you aren’t thinking straight. Then you make bad
decisions, which have negative consequences, which makes you more
fearful. It’s a vicious cycle. If this sounds like you,
here’s my advice…Realize that the fear is the #1 problem.
The fear itself is, in all likelihood, a bigger problem than the
object of your fear. Take care of the fear first. This is not
so hard if you take it one step at a time.
Remember
to breathe deeply, remember to eat well. Take care of your body
and your mind. Nourish, nourish, nourish. Remember that what you
focus on gets bigger. And you ARE in control of your focus. Don’t
focus on how and where you are powerless. Instead focus on where
you are powerful which will present options for solving whatever
the problem is and for making it through a difficult time. And
keep breathing!
Every
40 years or so, two planetary bodies do a fascinating dance in
the heavens. Saturn represents form, convention, the old guard,
the Establishment … while Uranus is the symbol of reform,
change, unconventionality, the new guard and revolution. They
are currently 180 degrees apart in the heavens. Astrologers call
it an opposition, and this is what happens every month at the
Full Moon, when the Sun and Moon occupy that place in the cosmos.
Saturn RESISTS CHANGE and Uranus DEMANDS CHANGE. This world-altering
planetary cycle peaks on election day, November 4, in the United
States.
The
contrast between the two major party candidates mirrors this opposition
perfectly. The archetype of tradition and maturity, Saturn, is
represented in the form of John McCain, a conservative, who at
72 years of age would be the oldest man ever to be inaugurated
as president.
Uranus,
the energy of change and progress, is symbolized by Barack Obama,
the first biracial candidate and a liberal, who at 47 would be
one of the youngest presidents in United States history.
The
keyword of the Saturn/Uranus opposition:
A
CHALLENGE TO THE STATUS QUO…no kidding, right? But don’t
fool yourself into thinking that this opposition only symbolizes
a struggle between the powers that be and the powers that wanna
be. This opposition operates on a personal as well as a collective
level, and that translates into all kinds of shifts. Saturn represents
authority, Uranus questions authority. And approximately every
40+ years, as they oppose one another, we struggle with structures
and foundations, individual and collective, in need of a serious
overhaul.
Notice
what’s stagnant in your life, and be prepared to transform
your situation, even if that means being uncomfortable…
very, very uncomfortable.
Think
of the next 2 years as a period of rebellion against stagnant
systems that no longer work but are resistant to change, individual
and collective. The GIFT of Saturn opposite Uranus is the ability
for us to get past our tribal/survival thinking. Indeed, thinking
from a perspective of vision instead of fear and us against them
survival is the ONLY remedy for Saturn opposed to Uranus woes.
IT’S
TIME TO REMEMBER THAT
WE
ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.
For
you history buffs, the two most recent cycles of this opposition
occurred from 1918 - 1920 and 1965 – 1967.
During
the 1918 – 1920 cycle, Mussolini founded Fascism in Italy,
women in America and Britain got the right to vote, the Communist
Party was born in China, Gandhi became India’s leader for
independence, and Gertrude Stein coined the term ‘lost generation’.
During
the cycle of 1965 – 1967, a time of tremendous social, political
and cultural turmoil, along with extraordinary creativity…Betty
Friedan founded NOW, Chairman Mao launched the Cultural Revolution,
Martin Luther King, Jr. led the march in Selma, Malcolm X was
assassinated, spacewalks by Soviet and U. S. astronauts, 50,000
people marched on Washington to oppose the Vietnam War, Miranda
rights became mandatory, Indira Gandhi became prime minister of
India, and the counterculture revolutionized nearly every aspect
of life.
Of
course it can be argued, and rightly so, that unheaval is a constant
part of our earthly situation. What astrology offers is the ability
to identify patterns within that existential flux so we can better
understand the forces at work in our personal and collective experience.
Saturn
represents time in its usual sense. Living out our days within
the steadfast boundaries of our clocks and calendars, we humans
maintain a sense of order and normalcy. Uranus, by contrast, represents
sudden surprises…it electrifies and accelerates everything
in its path.
The
feeling in the collective is that of a
TORNADO
DERAILING A TRAIN.
To
get a bead on the purposefulness behinds these thrills and chills,
let’s put ourselves in Uranus’s shoes for a moment.
He has a job to do…
TO
WAKE US UP BY SHOCKING US SILLY.
If
you were the Cosmic Trickster, how would you slap a people out
of their complacency? Abrupt and drastic changes are good ways
to get a rise. One of the reasons you’d want to send the
Dow hurtling into a climb the day after you sent it plummeting
with a stomach-lurching drop would be to give it somewhere to
plunge again, the day after that.
In
this contest, the planet with the clipboard, fretting about facts
and figures, is Saturn. But Uranus orbits beyond Saturn. So it
knows something that Saturn doesn’t know. And what Uranus
knows is that…
CHANGE
IS A GIVEN.
Frankly,
the wise approach to the next few years is to get in touch with
the part of you that loves a joy ride. In the same way that people
line up at an amusement park for the chance to scream with glee
while flying through the air, it is theoretically possible for
you to approach the next 3 years as if you had chosen them.
But
why, you may ask, would anyone choose something that disallows
us our self-protections and shatters our sense of security? For
the same reason that we pay good money for gravity-defying thrills
and chills at the fairgrounds…
TO
FEEL MORE ALIVE.
Given
that Saturn and Uranus are always in the sky somewhere, we know
that they take up residence in the chart of everyone on the planet.
It would be valuable right now to locate Saturn and Uranus in
your own birth chart and give it some consideration.
Wherever
Saturn is cycling in your chart is where you are tightly holding
on to what you know, where you feel restricted and confined...while
you crave the unpredictable, the wild and exciting in the area
occupied by Uranus. Your future is confronting your past. You
can observe deep-seated patterns that don’t work anymore
and change them.
The
Saturn/Uranus opposition is all about renewing your relationship
with authority. This can manifest in many ways depending on your
disposition, such as growing out of childish fears, accepting
life has limits, finding the courage to stand up to injustice,
and coming more fully into your own authority.
And
until we connect, I wish you...
BLUE
SKIES,
GREEN LIGHTS and LUCKY
STARS!
I
Love You,
Lorelei
